How to prepare:
- Exfoliate 24 hours before your tan. Use a gentle exfoliator or exfoliating mitt to remove dry skin and old product so your solution goes on smooth and even. Avoid harsh scrubs that can scratch the skin.
- Shower before your appointment and come in with clean, product-free skin. No lotions, oils, deodorant, makeup, or perfume— anything on the skin can create barriers and cause uneven development.
- Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment. Tight bras, leggings, and waistbands can rub the tan before it fully develops.
What to Expect:
- You'll be escorted to a private room where your esthetician will explain the setup and help you choose the right shade for your skin tone and goals. You'll have a moment to get comfortable and change before getting started.
- When they're ready to begin, your esthetician will walk you through each step of the spray tan process, from positioning to drying, so everything feels simple and stress-free. No worries if it's your first time, we guide you the whole way and make sure you're comfortable with every pose.
- Each tan is fully customized to your undertones, preferred depth, and event timeline. We focus on creating a natural, even finish that matches your body and desires.
Aftercare Instructions:
Before Your First Shower:
- Do not get wet or sweat until your first rinse: avoid rain, workouts, hot yoga, and steam.
- Let the tan fully develop for the recommended time (8-16 hours for Original, 2–6 for Rapid).
- Wear loose clothing to prevent rubbing or uneven spots.
During Your First Shower:
- Rinse with lukewarm water only — no soap for this first rinse.
- Let the guide color run off until the water is clear.
- Use your hands, not a washcloth or loofah.
After Your First Shower:
- Pat dry gently, don’t rub with the towel.
- Avoid lotions with oils, heavy fragrances, or alcohol for the first 24 hours.
- Avoid sweating, working out, exfoliating, or shaving for the remainder of the day.
FAQ
Will I look orange?
No, not here! We use custom-blended solutions with olive and violet undertones, and every tan is carefully chosen based on your skin tone, undertones, and desired depth of color. Orange results usually come from poor-quality solutions or incorrect processing time. Our goal is a natural, even, sun-kissed glow that's never orange.
How does an Airbrush Tan work?
Our airbrush tanning solution is a blend of cosmetic bronzer and DHA, a naturally derived ingredient made from sugar that reacts with the amino acids in your skin to create a temporary tan.
After your tan is applied, you’ll need to wait a designated amount of time for the color to develop. Original tans should be rinsed after 8–16 hours, while Rapid tans are customized and typically rinsed after 2–6+ hours, depending on your desired depth of color. During the development window, it’s important to avoid sweating, swimming, showering, or applying products that could interfere with your results.
What should I expect at my Airbrush Tan appointment?
At your appointment, we’ll start by discussing your desired shade, undertone, and level of darkness to create a custom result. Your spray tan specialist will then escort you to the private spray tan area, review prep and dressing options (including disposables), and step out while you change. Once you’re ready, they’ll guide you through simple poses to ensure an even, flawless application. The actual tan takes less than 5 minutes, and most clients are in and out within 15 minutes.
How should I dress for my Airbrush Tan appointment?
To your appointment:
We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing and a loose bra (or no bra) to wear after your tan to minimize rubbing and sweating. Leggings or jeans are fine as long as they aren’t tight.
During the spray tan:
Wear whatever you’re comfortable in, just keep tan lines in mind. You may choose to wear underwear, underwear with a bra, a swimsuit, or nothing at all.
For male clients: Please bring boxers, briefs, or a swimsuit to wear during your tan.
I'm getting a tan for a special event, when should I come in?
We recommend getting sprayed 2-4 days prior to your event. This will allow the tan to fully develop and look the most even for your special event.

How do I care for my tan?
After your first rinse, moisturize daily with a tan-safe, oil-free lotion to keep your skin hydrated and help your tan fade evenly. Avoid long hot showers, exfoliating scrubs, loofahs, and shaving for the first 24 hours. Pat skin dry after showering, wear loose clothing when possible, and limit activities that cause excessive sweating. With proper care, most spray tans last 7–10 days.
Are Airbrush Tans safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Airbrush tans are considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding because the solution works on the outermost layer of the skin only and is not absorbed into the bloodstream. However, we always recommend consulting with your healthcare provider first. For breastfeeding/pumping moms, plan to wear something over your breasts to avoid transfer to the baby's skin/into the pumped milk.
